Ways these Broncos and their 'play-dough' QB can stop the Kansas City Chiefs' dominance.

NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes text commentary for the weekend matchups via various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary is available through designated networks for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week of the NFL season , after last week's discussion about two top teams as possible championship contenders, each lost their perfect starts.

Notable during those contests were the amount of penalties both conceded. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times meaning they essentially defeated themselves after leading 17-3 going into the final quarter versus the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this weekend.

However it proved good to see how Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to have the shortfall and then lead three successful possessions in three attempts in the fourth quarter, securing the game 21-17.

The Broncos have the defensive player of the year in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are number one in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver won that battle.

They had the Eagles' number regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't always sending extra defenders instead they could plug two LBs in the 'A' gap then withdrawing them and send a slot defender off the edge.

Early on of the season, we said during a show how Denver could be the current year's dark horses. They ended the previous year well then excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?

New tight end their tight end has stepped up big and new running back their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks 5th league-wide for rushing yards (402) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

I love how the coach Sean Payton has "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.

This demonstrates how the Broncos are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush and keeps you in favourable situations.

This has helped quarterback Bo Nix, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to pass all over, however they lack the mobility that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, plus he is highly agile.

His assets are his movement, the capacity to throw while moving, as well as using varied release points to make throws as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can deliver precision throws over the middle or over the corner.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got great composure in the pocket and is not bothered by the blitz. He tries to avoid being tackled as much as possible and is able pass under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and is very decisive.

When you constantly run the ball it eats up the clock and makes the opponent to stay on the field for longer, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the area downfield and horizontally. This proves exhausting.

The quarterback has pushed back at Payton during games at times and it seems the coach appreciates that attitude, that he's such a competitor. I think it's fun for him to coach a rookie QB that is similar to moldable clay. The coach can really build something up how he wants to build it. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

The head coach has won a championship and now passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the achievements Denver are having offensively is largely due to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix aids make him into who he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you during some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team good enough to go against an elite team at its best? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're working above average, that's a solid position to be in the AFC West. The key to do is maintain this trajectory.

They're really good at embracing their strength, which is running the ball, and this is precisely what they should do versus the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

New York have allowed 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they are the only team yet to win a game.

Ever since the NFL began tracking takeaways decades ago, this team are the first team to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is surprising when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

After this Sunday's game, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the division.

It depends on which form Kansas City shows up they meet since Denver {beat|def
