Recent Refinery Attack Shows 'Absolutely No Safe Locations in the Russian Far Hinterland'

Ukraine's UAVs have targeted the Russian Bashneft refinery in the city of Ufa, positioned approximately 1,400 km from Ukraine, resulting in blasts and a blaze, as reported by a source in the Ukrainian Security Service.

This represents the 3rd intelligence far-reaching assault in Bashkortostan in the last month. Those strikes illustrate that there are no secure zones in the far hinterland of the Russian state.

Zelenskyy Appeals to US President to Facilitate Truce in the Conflict

The Ukrainian leader called on Donald Trump to facilitate a truce in the Ukrainian conflict over a call on Saturday.

"Provided that a war can be ended in a single area, then certainly additional conflicts can be stopped as well, covering the Russian war," Zelenskyy remarked, praising Trump's "remarkable" Gaza peace initiative and calling for the President to influence the Moscow into discussions.

Russian Assaults Kill Lives in Ukraine

Moscow's assaults on Ukrainian territory claimed the lives of five people on Saturday and disrupted electricity to parts of the southern Odesa oblast, per Ukrainian officials.

Two people died in a place of worship in the town when it was targeted, as reported by regional officials.

In the Russian border region of the Belgorod region, a lorry operator was killed by a Ukrainian strike, per local officials.

Electricity Restoration Efforts in the Capital

Work carried on on Saturday to restore power in Kyiv, after assaults.

Power had been recovered to over 800,000 inhabitants by the weekend and the biggest private energy company stated the main operations to recover electricity was concluded though certain disruptions remained.

Anti-Aircraft Efforts and UAV Interceptions

Ukraine's anti-aircraft systems downed or disrupted 54 of 78 enemy drones deployed against Ukraine in the dark hours, the aerial defense command announced on the weekend.

The Russian defense officials said it eliminated 42 enemy drones over its own soil.

Cuban Government Rejects Allegations of Providing Soldiers to Ukraine

Cuba on the weekend refuted American assertions it has provided military personnel to fight in the hostilities, while declaring officials in Havana "do not have exact information about citizens of Cuba" participating "independently" or "as part of the armed units of the conflicting parties".

The government department in the capital said twenty-six Cuban citizens had been convicted to jail sentences ranging from 5 to 14 years for mercenary activity since the autumn of 2023 when reports circulated of Cubans being deployed to the front in the conflict.

I Want to Live Initiative Reports Information on Cuban National Involvement

The surrender initiative, a state initiative that encourages opposing fighters to lay down arms, stated in May: "We reliably know the identities and information of 1,028 Cubans who entered into agreements with the Russian armed forces in the past two years."

The Cuban authorities commented of Cubans who might be participating: "There is no doubt that not a single one have the backing, commitment, or authorization of the Cuban authorities for their involvement."

Relatives of Cubans who left for the Russian Federation in the year informed news outlets at the time that their loved ones had been misled into enlisting through ads on digital networks.
