New Details Emerge Regarding the Location of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the tragic passing of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.
A Alarm
As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a practitioner arriving for an session first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the home. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
After gaining access to the home, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Following this, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now in custody and is ineligible for bail.
Correcting the Record
The person close to the family questioned several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
Furthermore refuted published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation also extends to reports of alleged "erratic" behavior by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the family home. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not received medical clearance and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
