Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could enable the team reach places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners parties.
Fans can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
