A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

It might not have been at the identical stature as pardoning festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life away from worry.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, donated by a local firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – originating from a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The trend became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently made “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to open the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and based in heritage that bring people together. Every time, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
